This pretty glass is another favorite find of mine to add a little age and character to a home.

Made in France throughout the 19th Century, opaline is opaque or a little translucent. The most popular colors are white, green, blue, pink or yellow; and most common shapes are vases, bowls, boxes, decanters and perfume bottles. It’s usually not branded or signed.

I personally love the robin’s egg blue opaline. This color is the most common and was popular much later (1890s), meaning it’s not nearly as rare or valuable. I don’t mind though – I love the pop mixed into my bar.

I found most of my opaline collection over the years at Round Top, but Antique Row on Lovers Lane in Dallas; 1stDibs.com and Chairish.com are great places to start building a collection!
