I know it’s easy to feel overwhelmed about yet another day at home. The weather is warming up, and I personally would rateh be on a patio with a Topo Chico and tequila.

But, in the spirit of thinking of our homes as a sanctuary, here are some ways I am creating my own beautiful place to be.

Fill your home with a pretty scent. 
As simple as it is, lighting a candle can lift your mood. At the moment, I’ve got them burning all over my house, and it makes me a little happier when I walk into a room. One of my favorite luxuries is the Baies (or Berry) candle from Diptyque. It’s sophisticated and not too sweet; plus I love the look of the black glass.
Turn on the tunes.
Playing music is another mood-lifter. I’m a huge fan of Bethel Music, and they recently released a playlist on Spotify called “Songs of Peace.”  It’s on repeat on our Alexa Dot in our kitchen.
Bring in the blooms!
If you must get out to the grocery store – don’t forget the fresh flowers. Hydrangeas will last you a couple of weeks if you frequently cut the stems and let them soak up hot water. And a  vase of roses or daffodils beside your bed is well-worth the investment right now.
Be intentional about lighting. 
At night, create a little ambiance by dimming your lights. I also always recommend our clients put lamps in the living areas on timers – set to go on around 5:30 and off at 11 p.m. Use this time at home to get those set up throughout your home!
Finally, treat yourself. 
Supporting our local businesses is more important than ever – and most have adjusted to this “new normal” and are offering take out and deliveries. One of my favorite local Dallas restaurants, Homewood, is offering a take-out 4-course meal for $40 a person.
